Some of the fundamental issues with memory assessment is they are generally complex or lack the simple means by which to form an assessment Assessment scales in dementia (nih.gov). Over the years there have been many many different scales that specialists put forward as an apparent means to assess people. If you have undertaken the standard screening assessment offered as one of my products and services, it was designed to be enjoyable whilst also keeping it relevant to supporting people in being able to have a go in the comfort of their own home.
In designing the screening assessment specifically towards CTE related symptoms and associated behavioural issue, it moves away from the generic assessments mentioned in this research article A Primer in Neuropsychological Assessment for Dementia – Practical Neurology . This article refers to dementia related syndromes, please take into consideration that CTE is and of its own volition an entirely separate degenerative brain disease. Many variant forms of dementia can form as explained within my research that lean toward other associated dissorders. Not all variants of dementia automatically lead to Alzheimer’s. It is this specific aspect of concussions and repetitive head trauma coupled with other stress related release that I believe leads to other related cognitive dysfunction. We may see this in areas like Parkinson’s disease or motor neuron disease which may form as a result of a specific impact area on the skull and the internal damage that formulates from there. I believe it takes some adaptive thinking out of the comfort zone towards addressing which sections of the brain are impacted, so the screening assessment will give you a basic insight toward a couple of areas that may be affected.
Take into consideration one amazing human being Mr Robin Williams who endured a living torment before sadly taking his own life. The variant known as Lewy Body Dementia is another variant form of dementia related disease, I researched many hours of data in trying to find a single instance that Mr Williams may have had an accident involving a physical trauma to the head before he may have developed the disease. I was not able to find a single instance of what I refer to as a trigger event. It therefore becomes feasible to suggest he must have had a trauma other than a physical event occur which released the same chemical cocktail that I believe the body releases in a fight or flight situation. Whilst this cocktail appears to be the human body’s response to such an event It is my belief this chemical cocktail is so harmful to us that it in fact causes more harm than benefit us. One stressful event is all that it could have taken to deform or dysregulate neuron function. Please consider my research which is fully sourced, credited and gives a fully researched scientific legal opinion.
I drafted provisioning clauses that specifically focus on placing protective measures not only for actors but all those professions that may sustain stress, fight or flight style response whilst performing a given role. This CTE disease is not just associated with sports and neither is the chemical reaction that forms from a traumatic stressful event. The body has a natural chemical reaction to being placed in that situation, it is my researched opinion these chemicals one of which is cortisol through the body’s natural defence mechanism actually cause us the most harm.
I believe as this chemical circulates the body in such an expedient urgent reaction response it reaches the brain through pain or neuron impulse activity and this is where additional trauma occurs. I would welcome support towards further evidence researching the effects of cortisol on the blood brain barrier. One such notion is that cortisol directly affects the blood brain barrier specifically after trauma.
If you look at the evidence surrounding symptoms associated with CTE you will observe a connection between dissassociative disorder and impact trauma, you will further see evidence of the same behaviours from stress related trauma.
Actors/artists in their profession should take a full contract review in catering for developments of such degenerative diseases, or at the very least factor in provisioning for stress related trauma if they conduct such a mentally demanding roles as covered within the provisioning clauses. Of course I am not talking about your everyday acting role refer to my provisioning clauses to assess those roles and associated risk.
There are some roles that come with these risks such as the stuntmen and women who do on a daily basis put their lives on the line in performance of a given role, I would ask those men and women to check their own contracts and see if they have the facility to cater for provisioning toward development of dementia related disease.
Does your insurance policy stand up to offer such protections?
I offer a small challenge, a straightforward task: Time yourself when doing it.
TASK : This is a moderately intensive memory task
If you have a pack of cards take them out, lay each card reverse side up on a table
Now turn over your first card, any card, then turn over a second card, if you fail to match a card of the same sequence such as hearts, or diamonds, spades, clubs, turn them back over. Try and find the full set of the sequence. It is important if you don’t get a match you turn them back over, so you try and remember where you saw the correct cards.
If you can do it by finding the sequence in the correct numbered order it makes it that little bit harder. Fore example: 1,2,3,4 etc or backwards King, Queen, Jack, 10 etc.
